Treatment Options

The treatment approach chosen for an underlying cause will depend on the nature of the problem and the severity of the disease.

A variety of treatments have been applied to patients with Arthritis, including cortisone and topical cortisone injections. For example, in an idealized situation, treatment options include:

Ongoing immunosuppression by daily or low-dose intravenous immunoglobulin. This is commonly done as a standard form of treatment, but should not be abandoned. There is a known side effect that is serious and often irreversible if a person is chronically infected. If these risks are considered, additional risks should be considered such as a reduced response to steroids or another medication (eg, beta blocker).

Interventional radiotherapy for arthritis, especially if a person has had bone demineralization after initial radiotherapy (eg, radiopaque therapy).

An alternative therapy has been used in people with severe disease and in children with chronic disease, but there is very little information to suggest that this treatment is effective (eg, it is not recommended in all patients).

Girl rescued from flooded storm water drain and dumped into the river during the storm.

Greens Party local councillor Sarah Wilson said: "This has completely devastated the community and many homes have suffered serious structural damage.

"It would be hard to imagine that some of the homes we have just rescued are more than £150,000 in the red."

An independent investigation was launched on Thursday after more than 500 properties - some worth thousands of pounds - were damaged or destroyed following the storms.

The council said some of the £1.4m it invested in the flood defences could not have gone to other flood defences.

A flood warning was in place on a section of the A23 and several streets were closed following the weekend's storms.

The area includes the village of Old Waverley, a place that was largely unaffected by the floods.
